Shadowplay 2025 – Our Annual Anniversary Ritual of Your Swatches, Color & Story
Every October, the anniversary ritual returns. 🖤
Ten years ago in October, I poured my first shadow in my studio, wondering if anyone would care. Somehow, a decade later, thousands of you do. Each of you who’s swatched, tagged, and shared a moment with Devinah — you’ve helped shape our story. And this blog is where we honor that.
Shadowplay isn’t just a hashtag. It’s our yearly anniversary tradition — a quiet, witchy celebration of what’s already in your hands. No releases. No sales. Just the beauty of your own color story, told through the three (or more) shadows you love most.
Each October, we gather your photos, your swatches, and your words — and we archive them here, in our Shadowplay Journal. This space will grow each year, a living scrapbook of every shade and story you’ve shared with us.
So whether you’ve been with us since day one or just joined the coven, this page is for you. Your hands, your creativity, your love for shimmer and shadow — they’re what make Devinah shine.
Through Their Eyes
These aren’t my words — they’re yours. Your memories. Your colors. Each story below features a creator quote, their swatch, and the shades that mean the most to them.
“My daughter found my doll just last week (after she had been MIA for over a year) so I had to do a photo op with her. Just in time for spooky season!”
Shades: Galene · Seaside Horizon · Messier
“3 meaningful Devinah shades to me: my first worn, Gelicide, and two of my favorites, Verdent Frost and Pavonine.”

“My 3 Devinah favourites for their 10th anniversary 🖤 I know these are likely within the best sellers for them, too. They are truly outstanding. Congrats to @devinahcosmetics for 10 spooky, sparkly years!”

“It’s October, my favorite time of the year. Spooky season, Rituals, Super Moons, and Autumn. A time of shedding that which no longer serves you as the leaves fall from the trees. A time to go within to reflect and prepare as the veil thins between worlds and the days get darker. And it is also the birth month of #DevinahCosmetics. Devinah Cosmetics is 10 years old and for their birthday we were asked to celebrate by swatching our story with Devinah shadows. When I first found @devinahcosmetics my first purchase was the Moonscapes Collection. I am always drawn to Grandmother Moon so this collection spoke to my heart. I also found a Hecate eyeshadow palette for my singles. Hecate is my Goddess and is always with me. I was never into sparkly things and certainly not a pink girly. Always being drawn to dark vampy shades. But at 60 years young, Pink Flair from the Moonscapes Collection brings the Divine Feminine out to be creatively playful. Described as a Victorian Blush Pink that turns my lids into a metallic shimmery ripple across a still pond under the Full Pink Moon. The 2nd Shade in my story is Winter Moon from the Midwinter’s Nightfall Collection. Described as a Frosty Night, with a purple base, gold shift and a kiss of blue. This shadow worn with dark moody shades feels like standing in a frozen field with Moon beams dancing on my lashes. And the 3rd shade in my story is Magnus, The Majestic Unicorn, an eggplant grunge from the Phantasia Collection. Magnus takes Pink Flair and Winter Moon deep into the dark forest. Hooves pounding until he reaches a small clearing lit by beautiful Grandmother Moon. Who lovingly shines her beams on him... and the 60-year-old on his back who boldly wears her story proudly into the light for all to see. Happy Birthday Devinah! I can feel all the love and witchy energy poured into your shadows. I love makeup... but I love it more when it has meaning. Devinah has meaning and depth. I look forward to growing my collection.”
Shades: Pink Flair · Winter Moon · Magnus

“A Walk in Haunted Woods #devinahshadowplay
My journey with @devinahcosmetics
Indie has landed : Paladin
I was just starting with indie makeup when the Angelica Nyquist x Devinah bundle was announced and I had to pick it up. This shade started a love affair with blurple shimmers that has only increased over time🩵
Multichrome Madness : Papilio
Jeweled multichromes were taking the indie world by storm and of course I had to get this purple blue shifter (and some others from the Butterfly Kisses collection 🦋)
Invasion of the Iridecents : Fairy Fire
I lusted after this shade for so long and it is now one of my favorites in my singles collection (and I have so many!) Indie makeup is where innovation lives and I have loved seeing the evolution of shades, shifts and sparkle ✨🩷
The journey continues!”
