The Tariff Surprise That Nearly Raised Our Prices

Tariffs, Restocks, and What Really Happened Behind the Scenes

Pull up a chair, friend. I’ve been wanting to talk about this in a real way, because the last few months behind the scenes have been… wild. Not fun wild. More like surprise, here’s a giant bill you weren’t expecting wild.

When the new tariffs hit, they didn’t just nudge our costs. They sucker punched them. As a small brand that hand mixes, pours, and presses every shadow in-house, our supply orders aren’t tiny. We’re talking pallets. Heavy ones. And when tariffs are calculated by weight and volume, those numbers get scary fast.

The estimate we were given for our next big supply order was so high I stared at the screen like it was a prank. It wasn’t. If we had gone through with that order, we would have had to raise prices across the entire shop. Every shimmer, every matte, every bronzer, every highlighter. And honestly? I refused. I’ve only raised prices once in ten years. I wasn’t about to let tariffs be the thing that forced our hand.

So we did the only thing that made sense. We canceled the order and went back to the drawing board with our vendors. A whole lot of emails. A whole lot of calls. A whole lot of “okay, that won’t work, let’s try again.” We finally found solutions that helped soften the hit so we could keep our prices right where they are.

But the tradeoff? Delays. Unpredictable restock timelines. And a shop that needed some cleanup while we waited. So if you’ve noticed certain bundles or shades quietly slipping into the shadows for a bit, they’re not gone. They’re just resting until we can get them pressed, packaged, and ready for our shelves again.

I wish I had exact dates for you. I don’t. But I can say this: our shipments are finally on their way, and things are moving again. Slow, but steady. And through all this weird tariff drama, your patience has meant the world. Truly.
