The Real Reason I Don’t Wear Other Eyeshadow Brands
✦ Beauty & Branding: Why I Wear My Brand ✦
Pull up a chair, friend. Here’s the real reason you always see Devinah on my eyes. It’s not a flex. It’s how I stay honest, clear, and connected to what I make.
I don’t wear other eyeshadow brands. Not because I’m shady. Because I’m loyal to what I create. If someone stops me at Target and asks, “What’s on your lids?” I can smile and say, “Devinah Cosmetics.” That tiny moment does a lot of heavy lifting - trust, clarity, and a quick path for them to find it.
Do I use other brands for things I don’t sell? Of course. Foundation, lips, liners - live your life. But eyes, glow, and the shifty sparkly stuff you know me for - that’s me being my own best demo. It keeps my story clean and my message simple.
What this series is about
- How my beauty choices support my brand in real life.
- Showing up on camera in a way that feels human.
- How I share names, color stories, and the why behind them.
- Where I set boundaries so my message stays clear.
Why wearing your own brand works
People trust what they can see. If my shadow lives on my face, it’s proof - no sales pitch needed. The line is easy: “This is mine. I made it. Here’s where to find it.” Simple, honest, repeatable.
When it doesn’t make sense
If I don’t make that category, I wear what I love. If I’m testing future ideas, I keep notes off camera until they’re real. Curiosity is fun. Consistency wins.
How I keep it clean across platforms
- YouTube: Swatches and tutorials that show texture and shift clearly.
- Instagram: Quick looks, reels, and community reposts.
- Blog: The receipts - story, names, timelines, and tips you can search later.
Mini playbook you can steal
- Pick your non-negotiables. Mine: if it’s on my eyes, it’s Devinah.
- Decide what you’ll borrow. I borrow categories I don’t sell.
- Tell your audience the why. Clarity builds trust.
- Repeat the message. New angles. Same core.
- Save the questions you get. Turn them into posts.
Bottom line - I wear what I make because it feels honest. It helps you see what the shadows can do in real life. And it keeps me rooted in the work. Cozy. Clear. On brand.
